Learn About Stainless Steel
Stainless Steel Information
While Stainless Steel is a familiar metal to most people, it has not been widely used in jewellery until recently, and is classed as a modern jewellery metal. There are many variants of stainless steel, but we use 316L Stainless Steel in our jewellery, which is widely known for its strength and hypoallergenic (allergey free) properties.
Did you know...?
Stainless Steel contains chromium, which helps to form a protective film preventing rust and corrosion.
Unlike many other metals, Stainless Steel is 100% recyclable.
Stainless steel will not change colour or turn black/green or tarnish, even when exposed to chlorine, sweat or salt water.
Stainless steel is not scratchproof like Tungsten Carbide or Ceramic, but is just as strong, and can be used to create a much greater variety of designs. It is also more affordable.
